Tolino Shine 2 HD
The Tolino Shine 2 HD is an e-book reader that is sold in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy by the Tolino Alliance, consisting of leading German booksellers and Deutsche Telekom . It is the successor to the Tolino Shine and has been greatly improved and revised in terms of display, appearance and processor performance. An overview of the main changes:

The Tolino Shine 2 HD is equipped with an E Ink Carta display that has a resolution of 1448 × 1072 pixels in HD quality (300 ppi). The same display was installed in the more expensive Tolino Vision 3 HD. Similar to the original tolino Shine, the Tolino Shine 2 HD has a recessed screen with an infrared touchscreen . In contrast to the Tolino Vision 3 HD, the Tolino Shine 2 HD does not have a tap2flip function and is not equipped with water protection. - Appearance
The completely redesigned case is no longer in the typical brown-copper color, but is now completely matt black. The surface coating ensures a soft grip. The housing flap of the Tolino Shine has disappeared in the Tolino Shine 2 HD, so that the connection to a micro USB power supply is now possible without opening a protective flap. The dimensions of the Tolino Shine 2 HD are smaller, making it easier to hold than its predecessor. The hardware buttons have also been revised or enlarged. The previous slide switch is now a push button, similar to that of the Tolino Vision 3 HD. The mechanical home button of the previous model is also available on the Tolino Shine 2 HD. - Processor

The Tolino Shine 2 HD has three hardware buttons: one to switch the device on / off, one to switch the integrated lighting on / off and a "Home" button that leads to the top menu level (start page). There is also a micro-USB port and a "reset" button on the underside, which can be reached with a thin, pointed object. The device is delivered from the factory with the Tolino eReader software version 1.7.1. A newer version 1.7.4 is already available.
As with all other Tolino devices, the e-book formats EPUB , PDF (with and without copy protection) and TXT can be read on the Tolino Shine 2 HD. E-books can be purchased via the e-book shop integrated on the e-reader from the Tolino bookseller from whom the device was purchased. E-books can also be purchased from other booksellers via the integrated browser of the e-reader. A compatible e-book format is required for opening. Unlike the Kindle e-book readers from Amazon , the e-books from public lending libraries can also be opened with the tolino shine 2 HD. The Tolino Shine 2 HD (like its predecessor, the Tolino Shine) has free access to Telekom HotSpots in Germany. Thanks to the standard connection to the Tolino Cloud (Tolino's online storage space), the Tolino Shine 2 HD has 25 GB of additional cloud storage for e-books .
