Tomás Berreta

Tomás Berreta Gandolfo (born November 22, 1875 in Montevideo , † August 2, 1947 ) was a Uruguayan politician .

From January 4, 1917 to January 18, 1920 he held the office of Intendente des Departamentos Canelones . On November 24, 1946 he was elected President of Uruguay. He took office on March 1, 1947 and held it until August 2, 1947. Like all presidents since 1865, he belonged to the Partido Colorado .

Life

Berreta died during his brief tenure. His successor was Luis Batlle Berres , who was the first vice-president to take over the president's office following the death of the president.
