Thomas James "Tom" Gugliotta (born December 19, 1969 in Huntington Station , New York ) is a retired American basketball player who was active between 1992 and 2005 in the NBA .

Career

Gugliotta was selected sixth by the Washington Bullets in the 1992 NBA Draft . In his first year he already scored 14.7 points and 9.6 rebounds, which earned him an appointment in the NBA All-Rookie First Team . In the middle of the 1994-95 season he was transferred to the Golden State Warriors . However, he left this at the end of the season and joined the Minnesota Timberwolves . At the T-Wolves, alongside Kevin Garnett , he had his best years. 1996-97 he scored 20.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game and was invited to the NBA All-Star Game . 1997–98 he again scored 20.1 points and in the summer of 1998 was one of the most sought-after free agents on the market. He signed with the Phoenix Suns . In his first year he was still able to convince with an average of 17 points, but he was troubled by recurring injuries. He never played more than 57 games in one season with the Suns and fell out of rotation in the end when he only scored 6 points and 4 rebounds on average in the last two years. The Suns then transferred Gugliotta to the Utah Jazz . He left jazz at the end of the season and moved to the Boston Celtics , who in turn gave him up after 20 games to the Atlanta Hawks . Then he found no more engagement in the NBA and ended his career.
