Thomas Daniel "Tom" Weiskopf (born November 9, 1942 in Massillon , Ohio ) is an American golfer who was mainly on the US PGA Tour as a professional until 1993 . After attending Ohio State University , he switched to the professional camp in 1964 and celebrated some tournament successes there, mainly in the 1970s. He experienced his greatest triumph in 1973 when he won the British Open on the Old Course of the Royal Troon Golf Club . As a player, he was a participant of the US team in the Ryder Cup matches in 1973 and 1975. He also qualified for the US team in 1977, but decided not to participate in order to take part in a big game hunt.

In 1993 he switched to the Champions Tour , on which he also won several tournaments.
