Tomas Tobé

Tomas Tobé (born February 16, 1978 in Gävle ) is a Swedish politician of the Moderata samlingspartiet . From 2015 to 2017 Tobé was general secretary of his party. Since the 2019 European elections he has been a member of the European Parliament as part of the Group of the European People's Party .

Life

Tobé studied media and communication in Högskolan and Gävle, then worked from 1999 to 2000 in the information department of a company. From 1998 to 2000 he worked in the municipal administration of his hometown Gävle. From 2000 to 2002 he was general secretary of the MUF, the youth organization of the Moderata samlingspartiet.

In the 2006 Reichstag elections , Tobé was elected to the Swedish Reichstag for the first time and successfully stood for re- election in the 2010 , 2014 and 2018 elections. He was deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of his party and was general secretary of Moderata samlingspartiet from 2015-2017.

In the 2019 European elections , he was elected member of the European Parliament as his party's first place on the list. There he joined the Group of the European People's Party and was elected chairman of the Committee on Development . Tobé is also a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and a deputy member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy .

He is married to Markus Tobé and has two children.
