Tomaso Antonio Catullo

Tomaso Antonio Catullo (born July 9, 1782 in Belluno , † April 13, 1869 in Padua ) was an Italian geologist, mineralogist, zoologist and paleontologist.

After studying mathematics, medicine and chemistry at the University of Padua , he became a teacher (professor) for natural history and chemistry at the high school in his hometown in 1811. He later moved to the Verona grammar school in a similar position . From 1829 he was professor of natural history at the University of Padua. In 1843/44 he was rector there.

In 1840 he became a member of the Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze . In 1836 the Medical Faculty of the University of Padua made him an honorary doctor of medicine .
