The Tomba delle Leonesse (German: "Grave of the Lionesses") is a decorated Etruscan grave in the Monterozzi necropolis near Tarquinia .

The grave was built around 530 BC. It has only one chamber, the four walls of which are all painted. It was supposed to accommodate a cremation, as the rectangular niche in the middle of the back wall shows. The painted vase above shows the ash container.

The movements and rhythms of the dance in this grave are particularly successful, especially through the lively reproduction of the arms and legs. The dancer wears a long tunic made of light, floral fabric, over it a wide red-blue cloak and on her head the tutulus , the conical headgear of the Etruscan women. She wears the characteristic half-boots, the calcei repandi , on her feet .

To the right of this are two dancers facing each other who perform synchronous movements and are also very sensitive and reproduced with a feeling for rhythm. The naked man is painted in brick red, his blond hair falls in curls on his shoulders and chest. The woman, painted in reddish white, wears a transparent chiton , which is visible between the legs in rich folds; her black hair is tied at the nape of the neck.

A male figure lies on the kline , a dining bed on which those taking part in a banquet lay while eating. In his right hand he holds an egg, probably as a symbol of life, in his left a Greek vessel. Compared to others, this grave is distinguished by a particularly rich color gamut of white, green, gray-violet, reddish white, vivid red, yellow, red-brown, gray-blue and orange.
