Tommaso Casini
Tommaso Casini (born February 27, 1859 in Pragatto , Crespellano , † April 16, 1917 in Bazzano ) was an Italian Romanist and historian.
life and work
Casini grew up in Bazzano, graduated from high school in Modena in 1877 and studied in Bologna (with Giosuè Carducci ), then in Florence (with Adolfo Bartoli ). He received his doctorate there in 1881 with the Tesa di laurea La coltura bolognese nei secoli XII e XIII (Turin 1883) and went through a career as a high school teacher and administrator in the places Arpino, Pisa (1884), Rome (1888), Pesaro (1890), Perugia, Cagliari, Ravenna and Modena (1896–1908). Then he was school inspector, head of cabinet in the ministry and finally from 1913 to 1915 professor at the University of Padua .
Casinis Manuale di letteratura italiana ad uso dei licei (3 vols., Florence 1886-1891) was very successful and was added to the outline of the Romance philology by Gustav Gröber in a German translation and T. "Italian literature" (second volume. Third section , Strasbourg 1901, pp. 1–217).
In Italy Casini was best known as a commentator on the works of Dante Alighieri (first published in 1885, until the present day).
