Thomas "Tommy" Roberts (born July 28, 1927 in Liverpool , † January 2001 in Birkenhead ) was an English football player .

Career

Roberts came in December 1951 from the amateur club Skelmersdale United from the Liverpool area to the Blackburn Rovers in the Football League Second Division . At Blackburn, England international Bill Eckersley was on the left-back position, so Roberts only made six competitive appearances in three years. In December 1954 he moved to the Third Division North for Watford FC after he had convinced as a guest player in a game against Liverpool FC . He immediately joined the team after his engagement, but disappointed so much on his first appearance that he did not play another game until his departure. His last station in professional football was from February 1956 league competitor Chester , for whom he played five more times by the end of the season.
