The Tomort ( Chinese 托 木 爾提 峰 , Pinyin Tuōmù'ěrtí Fēng ; or Tomurty ) is a mountain in the Tian Shan in the autonomous region of Xinjiang ( People's Republic of China ).
The Tomort forms with a height of 4886 m the highest point in the mountain range Karlik Shan in the extreme east of the Tian Shan. The glaciated mountain is located in the administrative district of Kumul . The city of Kumul is 72 km to the west-southwest.
Ascent history
The Tomort was first climbed on August 15, 2005 by Hiroyuki Katsuki and Koichiro Takahashi, participants in a Japanese-Chinese expedition.
