Tomoyasu Hotei ( Japanese 布袋 寅 泰 Hotei Tomoyasu ; born February 1, 1962 in Takasaki , Gunma ) is a Japanese musician and actor , who made his debut in Europe mainly through his contribution to Battle Without Honor or Humanity in Quentin Tarantino's film Kill Bill and his first role in Film Samurai Fiction is known, for which he also wrote the score . Hotei is a superstar in his home country.

Life

In Japan he is nicknamed the samurai of the guitar. In addition to his native Japanese, Hotei speaks fluent English and German. He has been married to the Japanese musician and actress Miki Imai since 1999 . Before that he was married to the Japanese musician Kumiko Yamashita from 1986 to 1999. At 1.90 m, it is very large by Japanese standards, which is also alluded to in Samurai Fiction.

Hotei became known with the Japanese punk band Boøwy . After Boøwy's breakup, he founded the band Complex in 1988, with whom he released two albums before being broken up in 1990. In 1988 Hotei released his solo debut Guitarhythm .
