My little Monster ( Japanese と な り の 怪物 く ん , Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun , German “my neighbor the monster”) is a manga series by Robico . The work belongs to the genres of comedy and romance and was adapted as an anime television series in 2012 .

In the first year of high school, Shizuku Mizutani ( 水 谷 雫 ), an ambitious student who cares nothing but her academic performance, sits next to Haru Yoshida ( 吉田 春 ), who is notorious for his rough dealings and fights. But he is almost never at school, so Shizuku is sent to his home to bring him teaching materials. After the meeting, Haru takes a liking to Shizuku and ends up coming back to school every day. Shizuku initially rejects him, she doesn't trust him. But over time they both get closer and make two friends in two of their classmates, the lonely and less successful Asako Natsume ( 夏 目 あ さ 子 ) and the popular Sōhei Sasahara ( 佐 々 原 宗 平 ).
Manga
The manga appeared for the first time in individual chapters in Kodansha's magazine Dessert from issue 10/2008 (August 24, 2008) to 8/2013 (June 24, 2013) for the main series and from issue 10/2013 (August 24, 2013) to 1/2014 (November 22, 2013) for special chapters. The series was later published in twelve edited volumes and a special volume. The volumes sold over 200,000 copies each in Japan. Kodansha also published the manga in English and Tong Li in Chinese.
A German translation has been published by Egmont Manga since April 2014 ; 13 volumes published so far (as of April 2016).
Anime
In 2012, the Brain's Base studio produced a 13-part anime series based on the manga, directed by Hiro Kaburaki . The concept of the series comes from Noboru Takagi , who also wrote the scripts together with Deko Akao and Sawako Hirabayashi. Tomohiro Kishi created the character design and Chikako Shibata was the artistic director.
The 25-minute episodes of the series were premiered from October 2 to December 25, 2012 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on TV Tokyo in Japan and, with a few days' delay, also on TV Osaka , TVQ Kyūshū , TV Setouchi , TV Hokkaidō and TV Aichi . Animax released an English translation in Asia and Crunchyroll offered the anime as a simulcast via streaming .
In 2013 an original video animation was also released on DVD with the last volume of the manga .
