Tonari no Seki-kun ( Japanese と な り の 関 く ん , Eng. "My [bank] neighbor Seki") is a manga series by Takuma Morishige . It has been released in Japan since 2010 and has been adapted in the form of an anime series.

content

The series tells episodes from the everyday life of the student Rumi Yokoi ( 横 井 る み ). She watches her bank neighbor Toshinari Seki ( 関 俊 成 ), who always does not pay attention to the lessons, but instead passes the time with games. He is usually very creative, skillful or a little daring, but never bothering about the rest of the class. But even this one notices, except for Rumi, not what he is doing. So he builds on his table an elaborate domino chain reaction, playing war with Shōgi ™ stones or carve a stamp seal from his eraser.

publication

The series by author and illustrator Takuma Morishige has been published in Japan since October 5, 2010 (issue 11/2010) in the magazine Comic Flapper from Media Factory . The chapters have also been published in nine edited volumes so far. Ediciones Tomodomo publishes a Spanish translation, Vertical and Tong Li licensed the manga for the North American and Taiwanese markets.

Anime adaptations

At the Shin'ei Dōga studio, a 21-part anime series based on the first three volumes of the manga was created under the direction of Yūji Mutō . The character design was created by Masae Ōtake and the artistic direction was by Shinji Kawaai . The main characters are voiced by Hiro Shimono (Toshinari Seki) and Kana Hanazawa (Rumi Yokoi). The music was composed by Akifumi Tada and Hiroshi Nakamura , the song Meiwaku Spectacle ( 迷惑 ス ペ ク タ ク ル ), sung by Kana Hanazawa , was used for the opening credits . The credits are highlighted with Set Them Free by Akira Jimbo. The song Danran! Robot Kazoku ( 団 欒! ロ ボ ッ ト 家族 ) by Ichiro Mizuki is played several times during episodes when Seki is playing with a robot family.

The first 13 episodes were shown from January 6th to March 31st, 2014 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on TV Tokyo , and the following day the broadcast on AT-X began . A further 8 episodes were then published as web anime, the last episode on May 25, 2014. Aniplus-Asia showed the series outside of Japan, the streaming platform Crunchyroll provides the anime with subtitles in several languages, including German.

reception

The anthologies each sold over 150,000 times in the first few weeks. A total of around three million volumes were sold. In 2012 the series was nominated for the 5th Manga Taisho Awards.
