Kana Hanazawa was early in the entertainment industry. As a 7-year-old she was a regular member of Sanma Akashiya's television show Yappari Sanma-daisensei , which ran from 1996 to 2000. In 2001 she played the role of Kanako Makimura in the 11-part television series ( Dorama ) Kakkoi no Sensei . In 2004, a smaller appearance in the crime novel adaptation Riyū followed . She also worked in advertising and appeared, for example, in an advertisement for JUSCO's (now: Æon ) brand Topvalu in 1997 , in 2000 for the Neo expansion of the Pokémon trading card game , in 2001 for Mazda or in 2004 for a school uniform clothing series by Ozaki Shōji .
In 2003, her first, albeit brief, activity as a voice actress came when she played the supporting role of Holly Mad-thane in the anime Last Exile . Her next work as a voice-over artist was not due until 2006, when she received a leading female role as Ryōko Kaminagi in the anime series Zegapain . There she met Ayako Kawasumi , who convinced her, instead of continuing to be a junior idol , to pursue a career as a voice actress. Hanazawa followed this advice and switched to the agency Ōsawa Jimusho, which specializes in voice acting.
Kana Hanazawa's characteristic voice is described as “calm and healing” ( 「ゆ っ た り と し た 癒 し 声」 , yuttari toshita iyashi koe ) and “kind-childlike” ( 「甘 く 幼 い 声」 , amaku osanai koe ). Mizuki Nomura , author of the light novel series Bungaku Shōjo , whose eponymous character Hanazawa spoke in the film, described her as a "clear, lovely voice" ( 「澄 ん だ 可愛 ら し い 声」 , sunda kawarashii koe ) In her roles she mostly speaks a girl Age range from toddlers to high school students, whose characters are mostly intellectually shy, dynamic and clumsy or calculating and malicious.
