Yamada-kun & the 7 Witches or Yamada-kun and the seven Witches ( Japanese 山田 く ん と 7 人 の 魔女 , Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo ) is a manga series by the Japanese artist Miki Yoshikawa , which was created by Published from 2012 to 2017. In 2013, an eight-part real television series on the manga was shown on Japanese television, and an anime series in 2015 .

The student Ryū Yamada ( 山田 竜 ) is bored with class, unsuccessful in school and a notorious thug. He actually wanted to get rid of his bad reputation when he switched to high school, but he does not want to succeed. But when one day he falls down the stairs and falls on his classmate Urara Shiraishi ( 白石 う ら ら ) and they kiss by chance, they both swap bodies. Both are surprised and finally they can reverse the swap with another kiss. Yamada learns in the form of Shiraishi that she is not only a successful student, but is also bullied by others. From then on they swap bodies more often in order to benefit each other. Together with the student council Toranosuke Miyamura ( 宮 村 虎 之 介 ), who wants to support the two, they revive the club for the investigation of supernatural phenomena and thus have an undisturbed space for their body swap. Miyabi Itō ( 伊藤 雅 ), who is obsessed with the supernatural, immediately joins them. After she caused them some trouble, the three of them cannot avoid taking them in and betraying Yamada's ability to them.

To keep their club and get money from the student council, the group has to convince Shiraishi to go to university after school. Yamada can finally encourage her by making himself want to go to university. With this success Miyamura can become the next student council president. The exchange student Kentarō Tsubaki ( 椿 健 太郎 ) will soon join them. Together, the group discovers that there are six other girls at the school with magical abilities that are activated by kisses.

The series was published in Japan from March 7, 2012 (12/2012 issue) to March 8, 2017 (12/2017 issue) in Weekly Shōnen Magazine from Kōdansha . The chapters were also brought out in 28 anthologies ( Tankōbon ). The volumes had sold more than 60,000 copies each, or more than 2 million copies by September 2013.

A German version was published by Carlsen Verlag under the title Yamada-kun & the 7 Witches (cover) or Yamada-kun and the seven Witches (catalog) from July 2014 to May 2020 with all 28 volumes. An English translation is to be published on the Crunchyroll Internet platform at the same time as the Japanese and made available in 170 countries. Tong Li Publishing is bringing the series out in Taiwan.

Adaptation

Dorama

In 2013, a dorama adaptation of the manga with eight episodes was produced under the direction of Mamoru Hoshi and Masataka Takamaru . Shin Ogawa wrote the script. Fuji Television showed the series from August 10 to September 28, 2013. On average, the drama had an audience rating of 6.3%.

Anime

In June 2014 the production of an Original Video Animation (OVA) was announced. This was animated by Liden Films under the direction of Tomoki Takuno and the character design and animation management by Eriko Iida. This was included as a DVD with the 15th manga volume from December 17, 2014, while a second episode with the 17th volume was released on May 15, 2015.

It was an anime television series with largely the same production staff, which was broadcast on Tokyo MX from April 12, 2015 , and also on TV Aichi , TV Hokkaidō , Nishi-Nippon Hōsō , Yomiuri TV , TVQ Kyūshū , with an offset of up to a few days . The anime's soundtrack was created by Masaru Yokoyama. The theme song used in the OVA ding! Went! Dong! came from Erushi and the final title Odd Loop ( オ ド ル ー プ , Odo Rūpu ) from Frederic.

The anime series features Kuchizuke Diamond ( く ち づ け Diamond) sung by Weaver in the opening credits and Candy Magic by Mimimememimi in the credits .
