content

During the Meiji period , Japan was modernized and the Yojin (= demon-human) ministry was founded to encourage the coexistence of demons ( yōkai ) and humans. It lets teams of people and yōkai be formed to take care of the conflicts that arise. So it is that the young, handsome soldier Kei Agemaki the fox half- demoness Zakuro is assigned. His colleagues Riken Yoshinokazura and Ganryu Hanakiri form a team with the Yōkai Susukihotaru as well as Hozuki and Bonbori. The groups must first pull themselves together and overcome prejudices before they can work together. Kei and Zakuro in particular have their problems, because Kei is terribly afraid of demons.

The teams will soon receive their first orders. It is mostly about yōkai who break the law, molest or endanger people. Then the teams' yōkai are deployed to fight the criminal yōkai.
