Prison School ( jap. 監獄 学園プ リ ズ ン ス ク ー ル, Purizun Sukūru ) is a manga series by Akira Hiramoto that was released in Japan from 2011 to 2017. It belongs to the genres of comedy and his . Adaptations as anime and drama were broadcast in 2015.

content

For the first time in its history, the Hachimitsu girls' school also allows boys. The first to attend the school are Kiyoshi Fujino ( 藤 野 清 志 ) and his four friends Takehito "Gakuto" Morokuzu ( 諸葛 岳 人 ), Shingo Wakamoto ( 若 本 真 吾 ), Jōji "Joe" Nezu ( 根 津 譲 二 ) and Reiji "Andre “Andō ( 安 堂 麗 治 ). However, the strict rules of the girls' school still apply, severely punishing harassment of girls and voyeurism. A secret student council watches over these rules. This is led by Mari Kurihara ( 栗 原 万里 ), the daughter of the headmaster, supported by her sadistic deputy Meiko Shiraki ( 白木 芽 衣 子 ) and the violent secretary Hana Midorikawa ( 緑 川 花 ). After some incidents at the school, the five students are said to spend a month in the school prison or are expelled from school.

The series was published between February 7, 2011 (issue 10/2011) and December 25, 2017 (issue 4–5 / 2018) in Young Magazine by Kodansha in Japan. The individual chapters were also published in a total of 28 anthologies. The volumes sold more than 160,000 times in the first few weeks and more than 270,000 times in the end. In total, more than 7.5 million copies were sold by December 2015. In 2013, the manga won the Kōdansha Manga Prize in the general category. In the last chapter in December 2017 it was announced that a more detailed, improved ending would appear in the 28th manga volume .

A German translation has been published by Egmont Manga since April 2015 and currently consists of 27 volumes. In April 2017, a limited entry-level set consisting of the first three volumes was also released. Yen Press licensed the manga for the USA, Taiwan Tohan for Taiwan.

In July 2016 it was announced that a spin- off manga with the title Fukukaichō wa Ganbaru will start from the 8/2016 issue of Young Magazine on August 6th . The series comes from ReDrop and focuses on the vice- chairperson of the student council.

Anime

An anime adaptation was carried out by the JCStaff studio, directed by Tsutomu Mizushima . The 12 episodes were premiered from July 11th to September 26th, 2015 after midnight (and thus on the previous TV day ) on Tokyo MX and, with an offset of up to two days, also on KBS Kyōto , TV Aichi , BS11 , Sun TV and AT-X .

In Germany, the anime series was licensed by Nipponart and was released on DVD and Blu-ray between July 2016 and February 2017. The series has been available as a simulcast with original sound and German subtitles on Anime on Demand since July 13, 2015 .

In the USA, the factory was acquired by Funimation .

The serial music comes from Kōtarō Nakagawa . The opening title is Ai no Prison ( 愛 の プ リ ズ ン , "Prison of Love") and the closing title is Tsumibukaki Oretachi no Sanka ( 罪 深 き 俺 た ち の 賛歌 , "the hymn of us sinful"), both of which are from the Kangoku Otoko ("prison boys " ), d. H. sung to the voice actors of the five main male characters.

A live series directed by Noboru Iguchi was broadcast between October 26 and December 21, 2015 on MBS and a little later on TBS .
