At New York Comic Con 2008, Yen Press announced that the titles Soul Eater , Nabari no Ou , Sumomomo Momomo , Bamboo Blade and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni would be published in the monthly anthology Yen Plus. The first issue was published on July 29, 2008.

In 2009, Yen Press acquired the rights to Yotsuba &! and Azumanga Daioh from their former licensing company AD Vision .

In 2016, Yen Press was transformed into a joint venture between the Hachette Book Group and the major Japanese publisher Kadokawa Corporation, with Kadokawa holding 51% of the shares.
