Haruhi Suzumiya
Haruhi Suzumiya ( Japanese 涼 宮 ハ ル ヒ , Suzumiya Haruhi ) is a figure created by Nagaru Tanigawa and drawn by Noizi Ito . She became internationally known as the main character of the light novel series Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu , the manga series of the same name , the anime television series The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and through several singles that set several new records.
Emergence
Haruhi first appeared in the light novel Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu , which appeared on June 6, 2003. As the central figure in the book series , she is said to have occurred to the author Nagaru Tanigawa on a sleepless night at the beginning of the 21st century. Her external appearance, however, was designed by the illustrator of the light novels Noizi Ito . When the Kyōto Animation book series was adapted as an anime television series in 2006, its outward appearance evolved under the influence of Shoko Ikeda . It retained its essential characteristics and only individual details and the body proportions were slightly changed.
Classification in the works
In the works, Haruhi is introduced as a freshly enrolled student at the northern high school of Nishinomiya . She has the ability to shape the world according to her thoughts. However, she knows nothing of this “divine gift”. Nevertheless, their state of mind and their desires continue to affect the real world. Your unstable personality creates a parallel universe in the event of boredom or general dissatisfaction. In this the Shinjin ( 神 神 , dt. "Divine person") appear, who destroy the parallel world, but could also affect the real world.
personality
In the book series, her personality is described as eccentric and unpredictable. Driven by the goal of discovering new phenomena, she develops a strong feeling of joy with new ideas with an accompanying enthusiasm, which does not make her shy away from ruthlessly using the people around her for her own purposes. She likes to order her friends around and uses her “favorite victim” Mikuru against her will for advertising purposes and countless meannesses, some of which take on forms of abuse or even rape.
Despite her general rejection of normal people and everyday things, she is interested in Kyon. At a later point in the plot, this is justified with Kyon's time travel to her past. Many of the audience saw it as an impending romance and suspect a character development in the sense of a Tsundere , since Kyon as a normal person would not correspond to her scheme at all.
The experienced original speaker Aya Hirano described Haruhi as "probably the most outgoing and strongest character that has ever existed in anime," and that she initially found it very difficult to imagine playing the role of Haruhi Suzumiya. This assessment also corresponded to the voices of the critics, who saw in Haruhi a fictional character who would set himself apart from other characters solely through his personality. Other characters would always fall back on elements such as madness , hyperactivity or simple stupidity, while Haruhi simply has a special view of the world, which is expressed in audacity and relentless implementation of their goals. Since Aya Hirano did not want to portray her character too scary, she played the role of Haruhi a little differently than it is described in the light novel. So she added cute character traits that did not appear in the original work.
Voice actor
In the anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya , Haruhi was played by the Seiyū Aya Hirano . For this role, Aya Hirano received the Seiyū Award in the category Best Newcomer (female) together with Yui Kano in 2007 . She was also nominated for Best Actor (Female) and twice for Best Musical Performance .
In the German dubbing, Haruhi was played by Oona Plany .

Parodies
Numerous works alluded to Haruhi Suzumiya, such as B. Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei or Seitokai no Ichizon . In the latter series, among other things, the use of her name alone was ironically mentioned as the sole guarantee of good sales figures. But independent parodies also developed based on the character. With Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yūutsu, a manga series was published that Haruhi presented in a chibi form and implemented as a web anime , with more than 500,000 views per episode per week.
Haruhi Suzumiya as an advertising character
Because of her notoriety, Haruhi was also widely used as an advertising character. Mainly various fan articles were provided with her as a motif. But Haruhi was also used as an advertising medium outside of Japan, and as one of the most famous anime characters, she often played a role in cases of product piracy. For example, brochures were offered for the Olympic Games in China that presented a figure modeled on her. In Russia , she adorned the packaging of chocolate bars together with other characters or was used to advertise the Taiwanese army on advertising posters .

Anime News Network , May 31, 2007, accessed December 27, 2008 : “Rather than rely on partial insanity, hyperactivity, or stupidity, as most such heroines do, Haruhi achieves her dominance through sheer force of personality. She isn't crazy at all, as there is always a method to her seeming madness; she just has a unique world view, the audacity and aggressiveness to ruthlessly pursue it without being at all concerned with what others think, and apparently gets bored easily.
