Adaptations

Manga

ASCII Media Works publishes three different manga series with different orientations.

The first series of Accel World is a direct translation of the series of novels into the manga format by Hiroyuki Aigamo. This was published in Dengeki Bunko Magazine from issue 5/2010 from April 10, 2010 to issue 7/2017 from June 9, 2017 . The chapters have been summarized in eight anthologies ( Tankōbon ) (as of July 2017). On February 14, 2014, Yen Press announced that it had also licensed this manga, which is due to appear in the USA from autumn. The first manga series was published entirely by Tokyopop for the German-speaking area.

A parody as a Yonkoma manga called Acchel World. ( あ く ち ぇ る ・ わ ー る ど。 ) started in the same issue. This is drawn by Ryuryū Akari and has also appeared in five anthologies so far (as of July 2016).

Accel World / Dural Magisa Garden ( ア ク セ ル ・ ワ ー ル ド / デ ュ ラ ル マ ギ サ ・ ガ ー デ ン , Akuseru Wārudo / Dyuraru Magisa Gāden ) is a spin-off and with other characters as well as their own plot in which only the main characters of the novel have. This is drawn by Ayato Sasakura and appeared in the comic Dengeki Daiō since issue 3/2012 from January 27, 2012 to issue 06/2017 from June 27, 2017. All chapters have been summarized in eight anthologies (as of August 2017). From November 2016 to August 2018 they were published entirely in German by Tokyopop .

Anime

Based on the first four volumes of the novel, the eponymous 24-part anime television series Accel World was created . It was implemented by the animation studio Sunrise under the direction of Masakazu Obara . The first broadcast took place from April 7 to September 22, 2012 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on the Japanese channels Tokyo MX and TV Saitama . In the following days, the channels Chiba TV , TV Kanagawa , TV Aichi , MBS , AT-X , HBC , RKB , Tochigi TV , Gunma TV , BS11 and Kids Station also began broadcasting. At the same time, the series was also offered on various streaming platforms, such as Bandai Channel , Smile Namahōsō ( Nico Nico Douga ) or PlayStation Store , on the Internet.

The episodes were also released from June 25, 2012 to February 27, 2013 on eight DVDs or Blu-rays. The limited versions also contained anime adaptations of the Yonkoma parody Acchel World.

On December 6, 2015, the publisher Kazé announced that the anime would be released in Germany. The First Volume was released on August 4, 2017 on Blu-ray and DVD. Volume 2 on September 29, 2017, Volume 3 on October 24, 2017, Volume 4 on January 10, 2018. Each volume contains 6 episodes. As a bonus, each box contains 3 postcards, and there is a clean opening and ending on disc. Volume 1 is available in a limited version with a slipcase and poster.
