Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken ( Japanese 転 生 し た ら ス ラ イ ム だ っ た 件 ~ Suraimu ~ , German , 'The day I was reborn as a slime' ), TenSura for short ( 転 ス ラ ), is an online novel series by Fuse , published in 2013 until published in Japan in 2016. It was adapted as a light novel and manga , the latter appeared in German as Meine Wiedergeburt als Schleim in Another World . An implementation as an anime television series has been released since October 1, 2018, including with German subtitles on Crunchyroll as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime .

Satoru Mikami, who is in his mid-thirties, is an employee and is content with his life, but would like to have a girlfriend. He is jealous of his colleague who has just got engaged to the most beautiful woman in the company. When the two are attacked, Satoru comes to their aid and is stabbed to death himself. A computer voice speaks to him and when he wakes up again, he cannot move and see nothing. After a while, Satoru realizes that he has been reborn as a living lump of mucus. Slowly he gets to know his abilities, can dissolve other beings and feed on them and thereby acquire their abilities. He is always advised by the computer voice, which can give him answers to everything and analyze everything. Eventually he meets the dragon Veldora, who gives him the ability to see. They become friends and give each other the common name Tempest. Veldora gives the slime the first name Rimuru. Veldora is scary but friendly and helpful to Rimuru. For 300 years the dragon has been imprisoned by a heroine in the cave where Rimuru was reborn. Rimuru takes him in so they can escape together.
Outside, Rimuru finds himself in a world full of goblins, wolves, and dwarves. The mighty, talking slime appears to the weak goblins as god and Rimuru is ready to help them against the wolves. When they are defeated, they recognize the power of slime and accept Rimuru as their new leader. He names them all, which makes them much stronger. Together they should build a new village and defend themselves against other monsters that have become more active after the disappearance of Veldora. To find help, Rimuru travels to the city of dwarves with some wolves and goblins. There Rimuru helps the blacksmith, who has received an impossible job from the king's minister. When they celebrate together, where Rimuru gets to know elves for the first time to his delight, there is an argument with the minister. Eventually the blacksmith and his friends are banished. They join Rimuru, who has won artisans for the new city.
Over time, the village evolves into a city that becomes the capital of a new nation, led by Rimuru, who strives to create a land where everyone, human or monster, can live together in harmony. But with many this new nation, which is mainly inhabited by monsters of all kinds, also generates rejection or unwanted interest, including various neighboring countries, the church or even individual demon rulers. Rimuru can win over others for his cause.
Publications
The stories written by Fuse first appeared as a series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from 2013 . The publishing house Micro Magazine acquired the rights to the title in 2014 and published the stories with illustrations by Mitz Vah as a light novel series, which so far comprises 12 volumes, with the English sub-title Regarding Reincarnated to Slime . An English translation is published by Yen Press under the title That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime . The publications on Shōsetsuka ni Narō were discontinued in 2016.
A manga adaptation, implemented by Taiki Kawakami , has been published by Kodansha in the magazine Gekkan Shōnen Sirius since March 2015 . The chapters have also been published in nine edited volumes so far. The 8th volume has been sold in Japan over 300,000 times. A German version of the manga has been published by Altraverse in seven volumes since August 2018 , and an English version by Kodansha Comics.
There are also several manga offshoots, some of which bring other characters to the fore:
- Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Mamono no Kuni Arukikata ( 転 生 し た ら ス ラ イ ム だ っ た 件 魔物 の 国 の 歩 き 方 '~: gait of the land of monsters' ) drawn by Shō Okagiri appears in the web manga magazine Comic Ride of the publisher Micro Magazine. The chapters have been summarized in five edited volumes since 2017.
- TenSura Nikki: Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken ( 転スラ日記転生したらスライムだった件 The mucus Diaries: ~ ' ), drawn by Shiba, the magazine appears in the online offshoot Gekkan Shonen Sirius , Suiyōbi Sirius , and was since 2018 summarized in two anthologies so far. This work has been published in German by Altraverse since May 2019 under the title Die Schleim-Tagebücher .
- Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Ibun Makoku Kurashi no Trinity ( 転 生 し た ら ス ラ イ ム だ っ た 件 異 聞 魔 国 暮 ら し の ト リ ニ テ ィ ~: ~ Toriniti , German Ta 'tone, ~: the unusual story of the Trinity of life ) is also published in online on Suiyōbi Sirius .
- Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Mabutsu no Kuni no Arukikata ( 転 生 し た ら ス ラ イ ム だ っ た 件 ～ 魔物 魔物 の 国 の 歩 き 方 ～ ) is written by Fuse and drawn by Shou Okagiri . The manga has been published in Japan since 2017 and has so far reached six volumes. These have been published in German by Altraverse since May 2020 under the title Der Schleim-Travel Guide to the Land of Demons .
Anime
An adaptation as an anime series was announced in March 2018. This is done by the animation studio Eight Bit under the direction of Yasuhito Kikuchi and the character design by Ryōma Ebata.
The broadcast started on October 2, 2018 at midnight (and thus on the previous TV day ) on Tokyo MX and BS11 , as well as, with an offset, on TV Kanagawa and Mainichi Hōsō . 24 episodes are planned.
Crunchyroll streams the series under the title That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime worldwide, except Asia, in simulcast with German and English subtitles. Due to the time difference, it was first broadcast here on October 1st. The last episode of the first season was a summary of the previous story from the point of view of the storm kite Veldora. This episode first aired on March 25, 2019.
In March 2019, a second season of the anime adaptation was announced. A second season for 2020 was announced at an event in Tokyo that premiered the 24th episode. Crunchyroll and TNT have been bringing a version dubbed in German in the Adult Swim block on TNT Comedy since July 15, 2020 . At 4 p.m. the following day, the broadcast episodes are published on Crunchyroll with the synchronization. A German disc release should appear by Kazé Germany in 2021.
