action

introduction

Fairy Tail is set in the fictional Earthland, a world of magic. The magic that is always traded is an integral part of the life of the people. In addition to the traders, there are also people who live from magic, which is known as magicians. Mages belong to different guilds in which they accept orders. The town of Magnolia, in the Kingdom of Fiore, is home to one of the country's strongest guilds, Fairy Tail.

The focus of the plot is, among others, Lucy Heartfilia, who runs away from home to join Fairy Tail. On her way she meets the dragon slayer Natsu Dragonil, who is looking for his foster father, the dragon Igneel, who disappeared 7 years ago. His companion is a flying blue cat named Happy. After Natsu saves Lucy from a magician who pretends to be the salamander, and finally reveals himself to be the real salamander, she follows him to his guild Fairy Tail and joins them.

She founds a team with Natsu and Happy, which at times also includes the ice mage Gray Fullbuster and the weapon mage Elsa Scarlet. Lucy's team goes on missions to earn money, these are usually advertised by normal people (e.g. hunting monsters), but there are often fights with illegal, the so-called dark, guilds and other villains.

First adventure

One day, Fairy Tail is attacked by the Phantom Lord guild. However, she is defeated by the magicians from Fairy Tail and thus dissolved. As a result, two new magicians join the guild: the water mage Juvia Lockser, who develops feelings for Gray from the first encounter, and the metal dragon slayer Gajeel Redfox, who was raised by the dragon Metalicana.

The guild also meets Gerard Fernandes, a childhood friend of Elsa. He was manipulated by Ultear Milkovich to use the "Tower of Heaven" to revive the black magician Zeref. Natsu defeats Gerard and destroys the Tower of Heaven. The guild is later attacked by Laxus Dreyar, the grandson of the guild master Makarov Dreyar. This actually belongs to the guild itself, but demands more strength and thinks to get it through a fighting tournament within the guild. After a difficult fight, which Natsu ultimately wins, Laxus is banished from the guild.

A guild alliance is founded to fight the dark mages guild Oración Seis. This alliance includes selected magicians from the guilds Blue Pegasus, Lamia Scale, Cait Shelter and Fairy Tail. Oración Seis tries to wake Gerard, who fell into a kind of coma in the last fight. He is supposed to tell them the location of the Nirvana weapon, with which they want to exchange light for darkness. However, Gerard, who has lost his memory, takes the side of Fairy Tail. In the course of the fighting, Nirvana is activated, but later destroyed by the Alliance. After the fighting is over, the newly formed high council appears and captures the Oración Seis and Gerard. As it turns out, however, Cait Shelter only existed to give a sense of family to Wendy, Heaven's Dragonslayer. In fact, it consisted only of the spirit of the Maker of Nirvana. After their destruction, he sees his task as fulfilled and finds peace. Wendy then joins Fairy Tail as the third dragon slayer. Wendy is accompanied by the flying white cat Charle.

Edolas

Natsu, Lucy, Gajeel and Wendy enter the parallel universe of Edola after the entire city of Magnolia and all of its inhabitants have been absorbed by an anima. Since there are no human magicians in Edolas, only magical objects, the only living things that can use magic are cats called Exceeds. Here Happy and Charle get to know their roots. She was sent to Earthland by the Exceed Queen Chagot. Together with the Exceeds, Fairy Tail defeats the evil King Faust, who wants to wipe out the Exceed. In order to have unlimited magic available, the Edolas people developed the anima system. It absorbs magic and life energy from Earthland, where it is available indefinitely, and stores it in the form of lacrima. Merging the Magnolia Lacrima and the home of Exceed, Extalia, aims to create a source of infinite magic. Through the collaboration of Fairy Tail and the Exceed, this event is averted and King Faust is defeated. Mystogan, one of Fairy Tails' strongest magicians, reveals himself to be the son of Faust and becomes the new king of Edolas. But he leaves Fairy Tail for this. He has also reversed the anima system, which transports all magic from Edolas to Earthland, including Natsu, Lucy etc. and all Exceeds. Together with the Exceeds, the group returns to Earthland. One Exceed, Pantherlily, decides to accompany Gajeel as his partner. In addition, Lissana appears again, who had disappeared two years earlier and was found dead. She also joins Fairy Tail again.

S-class exams

After a while, some members of Fairy Tail are selected to take the guild's S-Class exam. These are Natsu, Gray, Juvia, Elfmann, Cana, Freed, Levy and Mest. You will be sent with the current S-class magicians (Mirajane, Elsa and Gildarts) to Tenroujima, the “holy ground” of the fairy-tail magicians (where the first guild master Mavis is buried). There it comes to an attack by the dark guild Grimoire Heart, who are looking for Zeref, who is on the island. Laxus, banished from the guild, comes to their aid, and so they manage to defeat the dark guild, including the guild master Hades. It turns out that the search and resurrection of Zeref was pointless as he was never sealed. During his life he has brought much suffering to the world and at some point he became aware of the value of life. He suppressed his destructive forces as best he could and took a peaceful, neutral path. However, due to the events he lost his faith in humanity again. However, after killing Hades, Tenroujima was attacked by the dragon Acnologia. For Zeref this was the beginning of a new age. The guild members of Fairy Tail, together with the spirit of the founding master, Mavis Vermillion, activate one of the three great magics of Fairy Tail through their cohesion and will to survive and occupy the island with a protective spell, which also ensures that the entire island including the fairy Tail members as energy is frozen in time for seven years. Then the process is reversed.

Seven years later

After seven years, the guild members who are considered missing return to Magnolia. However, you have to realize that Fairy Tail is now one of the weakest guilds in Fiore. Then they decide to take part in the Great Mage Festival, in which the second strongest guild Lamia Scale and the strongest guild Sabertooth will also be there. Fairy Tail's goal is to win this competition to regain her honor as the winning guild is named the strongest guild in the Kingdom of Fiore. The tournament is divided into five days, each day containing a competition part and a fight part. The winners of each part get the most points and the last ones none at all, and the ranking list is created from the number of these points. Fairy Tail initially even took part with two teams from a total of eight final teams, but these two had to merge into one team (Natsu, Gajeel, Laxus, Elsa and Gray) after the disqualification of Raven Tail, as a team always consists of five guild members got to. After a few teething problems, it started to run better for Fairy Tail, especially in the tag team fight: Natsu and Gajeel against the two dragonslayers Sting and Rogue from Sabertooth, who are so-called dragonslayer of the third generation, i.e. were taught by dragons, lacrima crystals carry them as an energy supplement and have killed their own dragons. Even so, Natsu even defeats them alone. With this victory, Fairy Tail reached first place in the ranking. Shortly after the fight, Gajeel discovers a dragon cemetery under the stadium and calls the other members over. Wendy uses the special magic, Milky Way, to bring a dragon soul back to life, who tells them that 400 years ago the dragons ruled the world, but then one day a dragon decided that humans and dragons were at peace should live together. A war broke out between the proponents and the dragons who opposed it.

The dragons, who respected the humans, taught them the dragonslayer magic to eventually win this war. But the strongest dragonslayer turned against their dragons and killed them. The strongest among these, who also killed most of the dragons, was Acnologia (King of Dragons), who was later turned into a dragon by Zeref, the most powerful dark magician. Suddenly Colonel Arcadios appears in the cemetery with Yukino, also like Lucy, a stellar mage, and tells them his plan for the Eclipse Project. This Eclipse Project is a goal that has already gathered the energy of the tournament participants over the past seven years in order to, in 3 days where the moon and sun intersect, with the help of the twelve golden keys of Yukino and Lucy, the dimension of the stellar world in which the Time passes more slowly, use it to travel 400 years into the past. The plan is to prevent Zeref from becoming immortal and to defeat him and Acnologia once and for all. Unfortunately, their plans are disrupted by the royal army and Arcadios, Yukino and Lucy are arrested. The remaining members of Fairy Tail are then offered an audience with the king in order to possibly change his mind, but this is subject to the condition that they win the tournament.

Ultimately, the members develop a plan to free Lucy. While Natsu, Mirajane and Wendy sneak into the royal prison, the other team, complemented by Juvia, contests the tournament. After a hard fight they can also achieve victory and Fairy Tail is again the strongest guild in Fiore. Meanwhile, the rescue team learns from a second Lucy what is going to happen. She traveled into the past with the help of Eclipse to explain that a swarm of 10,000 dragons had almost completely destroyed the world in her future. It also appears Rogue, who had traveled seven years from the future to gain control of the world. He wants to get rid of Lucy because she is the only one who can prevent his plan. However, the future Lucy sacrifices herself to save her current self. There is then a fight between Natsu and Rogue, whereby Rogue seems to be clearly superior. As it turns out, he had given the princess false information, according to which the swarm of dragons should just appear and with the help of the Eclipse cannon, a modification of the original Eclipse portal, it should be possible to destroy it. Convinced of this plan, Princess prepares to use this weapon while the king gathers the mages' guilds to fight together.

The fact is, however, that the Eclipse cannon is a lie and instead it is a portal into the past. Through this, seven dragons manage to invade the present time. Before more dragons can get into the present, Lucy and Yukino manage to close the portal. Rogue's plan is to control the dragons by magic and with them to defeat Acnologia, who ruled the world in his time and drove mankind to the brink of annihilation and then to rule the world himself. During the fight with the dragons and the monsters that were dropped by one of the dragons a. Lucy, Gray, Gajeel and Jet and Droy die death. However, Ultear, the daughter of great and friend of Gerard, manages to turn back the time by exactly one minute with the help of a spell. The magicians take advantage of this minute to strike back, knowing what will happen in a minute. However, she sacrifices her lifetime for this. The previous deaths are also reversed. Meanwhile, Natsu succeeds in removing a dragon ("Atlas Flame") from the control of Rogue, who recognizes Natsu as the "son" of his friend Igneel. Natsu can eventually defeat Rogue and destroy Eclipse. This will take the dragons and rogues back in time. Rogue gives Natsu the order to protect his Exceed ("Frog"), since its death will be the origin of Rogue's transformation.

After the fight is won, there is a big festival in the palace, at which almost all enmities between the guilds are settled and Fairy Tail is declared the winner and thus the strongest guild in Fiore. After the festival, the guild returns to Magnolia, where it is received with jubilation. Makarov, however, has to realize that Natsu let go of the king's crown.

Fight against Tartaros

The group is assigned by Warrod Sequen, one of the four gods of Ishgar, to defrost the sun village. During their mission, they learn from a demon that "the gates have been opened". After they did it, Tartaros, a dark guild from the Books of Zeref, murdered the council except Doranbolt. Furthermore, a member of Tartaros severely poisoned Laxus' group in a fight. Meanwhile, the Fairy Tail members wanted to save the former council members from Tartaros, only Natsu and Lucy could save one. He then told them that Tartaros wanted to use Face to take all people's magic to resurrect END, the most powerful demon from Zeref's books. After Wendy manages to destroy Face, it turns out that there are hundreds more of them. Later, after their disappearance in 777, the dragons reappear for the first time and manage to destroy all faces. Acnologia returns to destroy both guilds and also causes Igneel, who appears to have locked himself in Natsu, to show up and fight Acnologia. Acnologia, however, kills Igneel before the helpless Natsu, who goes on a training trip after the fight to avenge Igneel.

Alvarez Empire

A year later, Natsu returns to find that the master of Fairy Tail, Makarov Dreyar, has tried unsuccessfully to postpone an invasion of the Alvarez Empire, which is ruling Zeref. Zeref and his troops attack Fiore and intend to steal Mavis' body, which remains under Fairy Tail's guild house. There is a source of infinite magical power called the Fairy Heart. In the fight against Zeref, Natsu is informed of his own identity as Zeref's younger brother and the true incarnation of END, who is supposed to kill Zeref. If Natsu doesn't, Zeref will extract and absorb Fairy Heart to overwrite the current timeline with a new one in which he could prevent the atrocities he and Acnologia caused. Natsu can't stop Zeref to end the drastic story changes that would result. Lucy revised the book END to make Natsu a human. Mavis eventually lifts her and Zeref's shared curse of immortality by returning his love, which kills them both.

The fight with acnologia

Natsu manages to survive Zeref's death and is sucked into the time lapse where Acnologia is, whose mind and body have been taken apart. While Fiores forces manage to seal Acnologia's body, Natsu manages to destroy Acnologia's spirit, which also destroys Acnologia's body and thus puts an end to Acnologia's activities. A year later, Fairy Tail sets off to receive the 100-year contract.

main characters

Cosplayers as Natsu Dragneel
Natsu Dragonil / Natsu Dragneel ( ナ ツ ・ ド ラ グ ニ ル , Natsu Doragoniru )
Natsu is a member of the Fairy Tail mages guild. He's a dragonslayer, this is an ancient battle magic that could also be used to kill dragons. He was trained, educated and raised by the dragon Igniel as a young child. When he disappeared on July 7th, 777 (time calculation in Fiore), Natsu went out into the world to look for him and ended up in the guild of Fairy Tail. It is not yet known how old Natsu really is. At the Fairy Tail Fight Festival, where the aim was to defeat Laxus, the master's grandson, Natsu couldn't get out of a runic barrier. The runes prescribed that no statues and no people over 80 years of age could pass through. He is cheerful, personable and has an iron will that is as big as his appetite. Like all Dragonslayer, Natsu draws his strength primarily from ingesting the same element whose magic he wields, in his case from fire. This also makes it relatively resistant to other fire magic. However, he reacts very angry and aggressive as soon as someone attacks his friends or his guild or tries to cause harm. Its famous name is "Salamander". Natsu's greatest weakness is motion sickness. As soon as he's in a vehicle or a boat, he feels nauseous and dizzy. In some situations, this also affects his fighting ability. It seems, however, that this is generally a weakness of Dragonslayers. His best friend is the winged cat Happy, who always accompanies and supports him on his missions. His eternal rival since childhood is the ice magician Gray Fullbuster. Nevertheless, he is on a team with him, Happy, Lucy and Elsa.
Lucy Heartfilia ( ル ー シ ィ ・ ハ ー ト フ ィ リ ア , Rūshi Hātofiria )
Lucy is a 17-year-old magician who always dreamed of being accepted into Fairy Tail. She comes from a wealthy family, but ran away after her mother's death because she despised her father for his neglect and abuse. To this day she has not been able to cope with death, which is why she is still writing letters to her late mother. With her attractiveness and her feminine charms, she always tries - but ineffectively - to gain advantages. Lucy is a Stellar Spirit Magician and therefore has a key ring with different keys with which she can call a Stellar Spirit, each of which has an individual property and magic.
Lucy forms a team within the guild with Natsu, Happy, Gray and Elsa. She has a special friendship with Natsu in particular, since he saves her from being enslaved by the unscrupulous slave trader Bora and brings her to Fairy Tail, even if he often annoys her or goes into Lucy's apartment unannounced. In other respects too, Lucy has developed into an integral part of Fairy Tail. This became clear when the rival guild Phantom attacked Lord Fairy Tail on an order from Lucy's father to bring Lucy back home so that she would be forcibly married in order to expand her father's large corporation. Lucy is also a fan of literature and has special reading glasses with which she can read a book at four to 32 times faster. She is particularly fond of the books by Zekua Melon, which is very useful on one of her first assignments. She is also working on her own novel, making friends with guild mate Levy McGarden.
Even if she seems weak at first, it quickly turns out that she can keep up with some strong guild members.
Gray Fullbuster ( グ レ イ ・ フ ル バ ス タ ー , Gurei Furubasutā )
Gray is a member of Fairy Tail and Natsu's rival. This is due to the ice magic that Gray wields and thus stands in contrast to the fire. Still, they're basically good friends. Together with young Lyon, he was trained by the magician Ull after his home village was destroyed by the giant demon Deliora. He was the only one who survived the attack. After Ull sacrificed himself with the Iced Shell spell to freeze the demon and thus saved Gray and Lyon's lives, he went out into the world and came to Fairy Tail.
Gray has a very cool character. He masters form magic and is able to make solid objects like a hammer or a cage out of ice, depending on how the situation demands it. He can also use his magic to freeze water in ice. One element of his training was to withstand temperatures below freezing with almost no clothing. From this, Gray has developed a habit in which he unconsciously strips himself down to his underwear, which is often very irritating for those present. He also gets very angry when he sees Elsa crying.
Elsa Scarlett / Erza Scarlet ( エ ル ザ ・ ス カ ー レ ッ ト , Eruza Sukāretto )
Elsa, also nicknamed Titania , is one of the strongest magicians at Fairy Tail together with Laxus, Mistogan, Mirajane and Gildarts and therefore belongs to the S-Class. She is 19 years old and has a special magic with which she can summon armor and weapons from another dimension in which she has previously stored them, which is why she gives the impression of a Valkyrie. Elsa is a former slave of a fanatical magician cult, but was able to flee at the risk of her life and that of her friends, but lost an eye. The fellow slave Rob, a Fairy Tail member before he was enslaved, died before her eyes, which aroused her fighting spirit and gave her the iron will to live in freedom. In that moment she learned her magical skills. To pay off her debt to Rob, she joins Fairy Tail. There she also received an artificial eye, which is why you can no longer tell her injury (but her right eye cannot shed tears after the operation).
She hates nothing more than arguments and squabbles, which the guild dreads. Above all, she can tame the otherwise so rival Natsu and Gray, who fear reprisals from Elsa with their fear of being. Nevertheless, Elsa always stands by her comrades bravely. She looks very creepy to anyone she considers an enemy.
Wendy Marvell ( ウ ェ ン デ ィ ・ マ ー ベ ル , Wendi Māberu )
Wendy is a twelve-year-old mage who made her first appearance as a representative of the mages guild Cait Shelter in the guild alliance to fight Oracion Seis. She is the dragon slayer of the sky and therefore has similar skills as Natsu. At first, however, she only uses her abilities for healing and only later learns how to use them as a weapon. Wendy is accompanied by a white cat named Charle (Carla).
Wendy was raised by the dragon Grandine, who left her when she was five years old. While she was walking alone through the world, she met the later Mystogan, Gerard from Edolas. He was traveling the world to close the Anima portals on Edolas, but he didn't tell Wendy about that. After a while he realized that it would be too dangerous for Wendy if she continued to accompany him. He therefore handed them over to the care of Roubaul, the guardian of the Nirvites, and went on alone. He created the illusion of the guild Cait Shelter for Wendy. It was only when the Nirvites' weapon, Nirvana, was destroyed that Roubaul gave up the illusion of Cait Shelter. Wendy Fairy Tail then joined.
By “eating” air, she can regenerate her strength with fire, similar to Natsu. Their air magic is very rare. In addition to her healing and some attacks, she also acts as a supporter by being able to reinforce the attributes of her comrades. Her spells for this are Armor for enhanced armor, Arms for enhanced attacks, and Bania for increased speed. With the magic of Troy, she can also temporarily counteract Natsu's motion sickness.
Gajeel Redfox ( 鉄 竜 の ガ ジ ル , Kurogane no Gajiru )
Like Natsu and Wendy, Gajeel is also a dragonslayer with the ability to transform his entire body into metal or individual body parts such as B. to transform his arms into swords or rods. He is thus the dragonslayer of the metal. When his power reserves are exhausted, he can replenish or even multiply them by eating metallic objects. He was raised by the dragon Metalicana, who left him at the same time as the dragons of Natsu and Wendy's. Just like with Natsu, Gajeel's age is unknown. According to a barrier that only lets people under 80 through, his age should be at least 80 because he was not let through with Natsu. Formerly he was a member of the dark guild Phantom Lord, which was commissioned by Lucy's father to attack the guild Fairy Tail. But after the defeat against Fairy Tail, the guild broke up and out of pity and because he thought that he would remain lonely, Makarov offered him to be accepted by Fairy Tail. He would never forgive him for the attacks on Fairy Tail, but he believes in the good in him. At first he had to build the trust of his new guild members, which he proved in later battles, side by side, against various opponents, and was thus accepted as a full member of Fairy Tail. Gajeel's companion is his black cat Pantherlily, which he brought with him from Edolas to Earthland. In the course of the plot it turns out that Gajeel is acting as a double agent between the two guilds Fairy Tail and the dark guild Raven Tail when he reveals the whereabouts of Raven Tail to Makarov, the guild master of Fairy Tail. Raven Tail is run by Ivan Dreyar, Makarov's son and Laxus' father.
Happy ( ハ ッ ピ ー , Happī )
Happy is originally from Extalia, the world of Exceed within Edolas, a parallel world to Earthland, where he was born. A few years ago, as a little boy, Natsu found a large egg that he proudly brought to Fairy Tail Headquarters. Together with Makarov, but also with Mirajane, Lisanna, Elfman, Gray, Elsa and Kana, who were also young at the time, he puzzled over how the creature in the egg could hatch. After a quarrel that was common back then, which was mainly triggered by Mirajane's suggestion to fry the egg and eat it, after which the egg disappeared the next night, Happy hatched. His first word was "Aye!".
