The Tongaroo River or Jacobs River is a river in the southeast of the Australian state of New South Wales .

It rises below Purgatory Hill in the Pilot Wilderness Area , a federal nature reserve south of Kosciuszko National Park . From its source it flows in a south-easterly direction and finally flows into the Snowy River . The closest settlement is the small town of Ingebirah on the stream of the same name, a tributary of the Tongaroo River.
