Toni De Gregorio

Toni De Gregorio (born March 3, 1931 in Marostica , † May 5, 2006 in Bassano del Grappa ) was an Italian documentary and television director .

Life

De Gregorio initially pursued activities in the theater after visiting the "Teatro Studio" in Rome. From 1960 he emerged as a documentarist, who turned to television at the beginning of the following decade and continued his work there. His films include numerous classics of the documentary field such as “Utopia”, “Pendolari alla rescovia”, “Teatro popolare” or “Scene dalla commedia dell'arte”.

In 1974 he directed the story of Talia Zilienina, who was deported to Siberia, as E cominciò il viagio nella vertigine for the cinema - it was also shown at the Venice Film Festival - where he was also responsible for the script and editing. The following year the television film Nella tua vita was made . Then De Gregorio did not return to cinema until 1989, as a producer and commentator on a film.
