Toni Maier

Anton "Toni" Maier (born January 29, 1949 in Bärnbach ) is an Austrian solo trumpeter, music teacher and composer . He was the director of the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory in Graz .

Career

Maier graduated from the Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Graz in 1969 with distinction. In March 1970 he played with the “Orchester Max Greger ” on the TV show “ Der goldene Schuß ” and became known to a wide audience and experts thanks to the trumpet solo on offer. The next step in his career was his position as solo trumpeter with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra . He then taught for three years as a teacher at the Graz Conservatory. With his own 9-man band called "The Crazy Dollar Band", he made 270 appearances per year in 35 years. He worked with conductors such as Herbert von Karajan , Leonard Bernstein , Karl Böhm and Carlo Maria Giulini .

Since the beginning of his career, Maier has been working as a studio trumpeter to record music for film and television productions and as a composer and arranger for classical and pop music.

Private

Maier has been married since 1977 and has three sons.
