Toni Roth

Anton "Toni" Roth (born February 16, 1899 in Munich ; † November 12, 1971 in Greifenberg ) was a German painter, restorer and lecturer in painting technology at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and a friend of Max Doerner and Max Raffler .

Life

His father was the Munich painter Alois Roth, his brother the medalist Karl Roth

From October 1917 Toni Roth studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in the class of Prof. Angelo Jank .

In 1937 the Munich factory testing and research institute was founded, of which Roth was deputy head. This institute still exists today and is called the Doerner Institute after its founder . Today it is affiliated with the Bavarian State Painting Collection. From 1937 to 1943 he was listed as a participant in the main annual catalogs of the Great German Art Exhibitions .

Toni Roth was the editor of Doerner's painting material and its use in pictures (Munich 1921) up to the 13th edition.

The Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen holds over thirty works by Roth.
