Tonino De Bernardi

Tonino De Bernardi (actually Antonio De Bernardi , * 1937 in Chivasso ) is an Italian film director .

Life

De Bernardi graduated in music history and from 1967 devoted himself to underground film . He initially staged together with the painter Paolo Menzio Il mostro verde and worked with numerous visual artists and writers of the neo- avant-garde , during which he mainly directed short and medium- length films and videos for his company Lontane Province Film over the following decades . A special feature is the 12-hour Donne , which was produced from 1980 to 1982 .

In 1987 De Bernardi made his feature film debut: his Elettra after Sophocles was interpreted by amateur actors . Viaggio a Sodoma , produced on video, received the 1989 Aja Film Festival award in the Netherlands ; numerous other films have been shown at many festivals. Piccoli orrori made it to the cinema in 1994; several of De Bernardi's subsequent works were shown at the Venice Film Festival but were not distributed. Appassionata was even nominated for the Golden Lion in 1999.

In 2007 he directed Medée miracle with Isabelle Huppert .
