Tony Arbor

Anthony Francis "Tony" Arbor (* thirtieth August 1945 ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party .

Career

Arbor was educated at St. Andrews School and Surbiton County Grammar School . He graduated from Kingston College of Technology , where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree . This was followed by postgraduate studies at Cass Business School , which Arbor completed with a Master of Business Administration . In 1967 he was admitted as a barrister at Gray's Inn and became a lecturer at Kingston University Business School. The following year, at the age of 22, he was entered into the Richmond upon Thames Borough Council . He has held his seat there continuously since then. Between 1996 and 2006 he was parliamentary group chairman of the Conservative Party and chaired the council from 2002 to 2006. He was also a member of the Greater London Council between 1983 and 1986 . In 2000 he was elected to the London Assembly to represent the South West constituency. He won the upcoming elections in 2004, 2008 and 2012. Most recently, he was confirmed in office with 39.84% in the 2012 elections . Arbor was a member of the Metropolitan Police Authority and has served as a justice of the peace since 1974 .
