Tony Gowland

Anthony J. "Tony" Gowland (born May 13, 1945 in London ) is a former English cyclist .

As an amateur , he won the British championship in two-man team driving in 1966 with his partner Ian Alsop .

Tony Gowland was a professional cyclist from 1968 to 1978. The focus of his sporting activities was on road races in Great Britain and on six days , of which he contested 31. In 1971 he won the six-day race in Montreal , together with Gianni Motta , and in 1972 the Skol -Six at Wembley Arena in a team with Patrick Sercu . He finished second three times in the London six-day race, in 1970 with the German Sigi Renz and in 1975 with his compatriot Wilfried Peffgen and in 1971 with the Belgian Alain Van Lancker . So far (as of 2019) he is the only British winner of the race. In 1967 he won the London six-day amateur race with his partner Ian Alsop in the evening program of the six-day race of London .
