Tony Huynh

Tony Huynh (* 1982 ) is a Canadian comedian and vlogger from Toronto who has been publishing his thoughts and views on various topics in his own comedy style on the YouTube video portal since 2005 under the name The Wine Kone (or TWK ) . In December 2007, Huynh was twelfth in the ranking of the most-subscribed accounts on YouTube with more than 76,000 subscribers. In March 2007, his video Hotness Prevails won the first YouTube Video Award in the Best Commentary category . His contribution to the CNN-YouTube Democratic Presidential Debate was the most viewed post by YouTube users.

Huynh's first video on YouTube was The Delaware Boy from December 2005. Since then, he has been posting videos on YouTube at irregular intervals, gradually increasing the following of his torrent of words on various topics. His video Hotness Prevails / Worst Video Ever has now reached over three million views.

His humor is described as versatile and self-deprecating. He is known for his torrent of words on various topics, with which he has earned a loyal audience, including other personalities known on YouTube such as Ben Going. A recurring joke in his work is the warning that watching this video is a waste of time. This warning is either followed by an empty sequence or content that is not interesting or humorous. Another recurring theme in Huynh's videos is addressing personalities who have achieved a certain level of notoriety on the Internet.

Huynh has appeared on the television show The FIZZ . In collaboration with other celebrities known on YouTube, he appeared in a music video by the Barenaked Ladies called the Sound of Your Voice . Further collaborations took place for the Save The Internet Campaign , the YouTube Anti-Racism Collaboration , the Yellow Bird Project and Dare to Dream .

In May 2007, Huynh was invited by YouTube to join the YouTube Partner Program. This exclusive status, which was previously only offered to commercial video creators, allows, among other things, to generate income by displaying advertising on the respective video page.

Emergence

Huynh began emailing newsletters to his friends at the university in 2002. Over time this distributor grew and after a year the newsletter was called The Wine Kone . Recipients received a collection of articles, edited images, audio and video files produced by Huynh himself. In April 2005, he decided to publish his work online, initially using free blogging websites such as Wordpress , LiveJournal and Blogger.com . A little later he concentrated on creating videos and found his way to YouTube. In the video> "The Wine Kone" Revealed <from December 11, 2008 he explains for the first time how he came up with the name "TheWineKone": His name Tony Huynh is pronounced "Toe Knee Hwin" in English; if you twist the letters you get to "The Wine Kone".
