Tony Readings (born November 27, 1975 ) is an English football coach and former football player , who was most recently the coach of the New Zealand women's national team .
Career
Readings played as defender for the English clubs AFC Wimbledon and North Shore United .
He was initially the coach of New Zealand's U-20 women's national team, with which he won the 2010 Women's U-20 Oceania Championship and took part in the U-20 World Cup in Germany. In the summer of 2011 he was an assistant coach in the women's national team at the World Cup in Germany , which was eliminated after the preliminary round. After John Herdman moved to Canada, he took over the post of head coach after the World Cup and qualified with his team for the Olympic football tournament in London . There New Zealand reached the quarter-finals of an intercontinental tournament for the first time, but was eliminated there against the eventual Olympic champion USA . On November 2, 2017, he resigned as national coach.
