Toomas Liiv

Toomas Liiv (born December 30, 1946 in Tallinn , †  December 20, 2009 in Tallinn) was an Estonian poet and literary critic .

Life and literature

Toomas Liiv graduated from secondary school in Tallinn in 1965. He then studied philology at the University of Tartu until 1970 . From 1971 Toomas Liiv worked as a poet, literary scholar and literary critic. Since 1981 he has been a member of the Estonian Writers' Union.

Toomas Liiv was Professor of Literature at Tallinn University until shortly before his death . In addition, he also spoke out politically pointedly.

In 2003 Toomas Liiv received the literary prize of the Estonian State Foundation for Culture Capital .
