Topcon ( Tokyo OPtikal COmpany Nippon ) is a Japanese company. The company, founded in 1932, is one of the world market leaders in the manufacture of geodetic measuring instruments.

Electronic total station and triple prism from SOKKIA

Topcon was also used as a brand of cameras until the manufacturer stopped manufacturing cameras in the 1970s. Topcon also introduced the first camera with open aperture measurement .

Also noteworthy is the Topcon RE Super SLR camera, which had internal measurements as early as 1963. There were several accessories for this camera series, such as a motor drive with rewind function, a long film back wall, as well as a range of lenses and close-up accessories. The lens connection is compatible with the Exakta inner bayonet. The camera received some attention because the US Navy chose it as standard equipment after extensive testing (instead of, for example, the better-known Nikon F or a Leica model).

Sokkia has been part of the Topcon Group since 2008 .
