The Torfbahn Pelgorskoje ( Russian Узкоколейная железная дорога Пельгорского торфопредприятия , transkr. Uskokoleinaja schelesnaja doroga Pelgorskowo torfopredprijatija , transl. Uzkokolejnaâ železnaâ doroga Pel'gorskogo torfopredpriâtiâ ) is a 20 kilometer long narrow gauge railway in the settlement Rjabowo (Рябово) in Tosnenski rayon of the Leningrad Oblast in Russia .

history

The narrow-gauge railway was built and opened in the 1950s. The railroad was built to carry peat and workers and runs year round. In 2001 the Pelgorskoye-M (Пельгорское-М) peat company began replacing equipment and repairing the railroad between the peat bogs and the processing plants. At the height of its development, the total length of the narrow-gauge railway exceeded 25 kilometers, of which 20 kilometers are currently (2016) still in operation. In 2004 a peat factory was built and put into operation. In 2016 repairs were made to the route.

Freight and passenger cars

There are, among other things, several TSW6A peat flats, open freight wagons, tank trucks for the fire brigade, PW40 passenger cars and bulk goods wagons for ballast for track construction.
