Torment is a Hamburg based thrash metal band that was founded in 1984. Her singer Jörn "Kannixxx" Rüter is also the owner of the Remedy Records label .
history
The band was founded in 1984 and released their first EP called Bestial Sex in 1987 . 2,000 copies of the EP were sold. In 1989, the single Das Neue was produced after the band reached a deal with Steamhammer Records . This label released the band's debut album in 1991, called Experience a New Dimension of Fear. The Horrors of the Past Were Just a Taste of the Things to Come. Past Events Have Been Mere Hints of Future Terrors. Everything So Far Has Only Been a Warning… . This was followed by an appearance at the Millerntor Festival in Hamburg and a tour with the bands Messiah and Assorted Heap .
In 1992, the single She Came Out To Me In The Morning came out, which was followed by a split release with Minotaur and Desert Storm in 1993 . In the same year and the following year the band played at the Wacken Open Air .
The next EP Spermatized with four own songs and four cover versions was recorded in 1997 at Lautmeister Studios . The release ceremony took place at Wacken Open Air that same year after Hammerfall's performance . This was followed by a tour through Europe , which lasted until the beginning of 1999.
For the 10th anniversary of the band released the album Not Dead Yet . This was followed by a European tour as well as appearances at the Headbangers Open Air and the Wacken Open Air in 1999. The 20th anniversary was celebrated at the Metal Bash Open Air 2004. Then it went to the studio to record the album Tormentation . The album Tormentizer was released in July 2009 for the 25th anniversary of the band's existence . For the band's 35th anniversary in 2019, the band will perform again at the Wacken Open Air.

In their biography, the band still describes their early works as pure Thrash Metal, while the rock 'n' roll share increases in later releases . The band called the later releases "Thrash'n'Roll". The band is described as the "veteran of German Thrash Metal" and is compared to bands like Destruction , Sodom and Motörhead .
