The Toropa ( Russian Торопа ) is a right tributary of the Daugava River in the Russian Tver Oblast .

The Toropa rises on the Valdai Heights . It flows in a southerly direction through the far west of Tver Oblast. There are a total of 9 lakes on the upper and middle reaches of the Toropa. Halfway through the river passes the small town of Toropez . Finally, the Toropa flows into the river Daugava, which flows to the west, at the border between the two oblasts of Tver and Pskow .

The Toropa has a length of 174 km. It drains an area of ​​1950 km². It is largely fed by the snowmelt . The mean discharge 49 km above the mouth is 19.7 m³ / s. The Toropa is ice-covered between late November / early December and April.
