SEF Torres 1903 was founded in April 1903. In the 1930s, the men's soccer team succeeded for the first time in the third division for several years, but was never able to assert itself nationwide despite several years in Serie C and Serie C1 . In 1980 the women's soccer team was founded as ACF Delco Costruzioni and later renamed itself to CUS Sassari . Under this name, the team rose to Serie B in 1989 and Serie A a year later . Led by Carolina Morace , who had scored 33 goals this season in 30 games this season, the club, now taking on as SS Torres FoS , won the championship title in Italy for the first time in 1994.
