Torsten Bewernitz

Torsten Bewernitz (* 1975 in Papenburg ) is a German political scientist and trade unionist .

Bewernitz comes from the Lower Saxony municipality of Papenburg. He studied political science, sociology, German philology and philosophy. During his studies in Münster he was active for the undogmatic left . In 2001 he submitted his master's thesis , The Negotiations on the Multilateral Agreement on Investments (MAI) under the Aspect of Globalization , at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . After that, he was a PhD student at the Münster Institute of Political Science and in 2010 at the Faculty with a political science doctoral thesis on the representation of nation and gender relations during the war in Kosovo to Dr. phil. ( summa cum laude ) doctorate. The reviewers for the work were Reinhard Meyers and Hanns Wienold .

From 2011 to 2014 he worked - as a project assistant to Horst Steffens - in the Technoseum , State Museum for Technology and Work in Mannheim and designed the state exhibition "Through Night to Light?", Which opened there in 2013, on the history of the labor movement (1863-2013). Most recently, he held a teaching position at the Department of Contemporary History (Professorship Philipp Gassert ) at the Historical Institute of the University of Mannheim and did research on strikes .

For more than five years he was a consultant at the DGB- Bildungswerk. At IG Metall Baden-Württemberg , he was involved in the "joint development project". He was also involved in the anarcho-syndicalist trade union federation Free Workers' Union .

Bewernitz published several articles in anarchist magazines ( Direct Action , Grassroots Revolution, etc.). Since 2018 he has worked as an editor for express - newspaper for socialist company and trade union work .
