The metallzeitung (up to 2007 Metall and published fortnightly, until 2003 with the Union-Druckerei und Verlags-Anstalt in Frankfurt, then with the alpha print medien AG in Frankfurt) is the monthly membership magazine of the German industrial union Metall . With a sold circulation of 2,181,601, it sees itself as the world's largest trade union magazine and ranks sixth among the highest-circulation German magazines . In 2014 the magazine was published in the 67th year, previous publications go back to 1883.

The magazine in format 220 × 302 millimeters appears with twelve issues per year and consists of a nationwide uniform part with 32 pages, which is supplemented by seven regionally specific alternating pages. The main part is divided into the headings "Current", "Life", "Work" and "Opportunities". Every member of IG Metall receives the metal newspaper free of charge.

The editor-in-chief of the metallzeitung is Fabienne Melzer. The IG Metall chairman Jörg Hofmann , Christiane Benner , the second chairwoman and the main cashier Jürgen Kerner are listed as editors in the imprint.

Günter Wallraff published his first critical industrial reports in Metall , for which he became known, including about the Ford campaign .
