Torsten Michel

Torsten Michel (* 1978 in Dresden ) is a German chef. He is the successor to Harald Wohlfahrt in the Schwarzwaldstube restaurant , which has been awarded three Michelin stars 25 times , more often than any other German restaurant.

Career

From 2000 he was in the Bülow Residenz in Dresden with Stefan Hermann . In January 2004 he moved to Harald Wohlfahrt's Schwarzwaldstube in the Hotel Traube Tonbach (three Michelin stars). In May 2007 he became sous chef there.

In April 2016 he became head chef alongside Wohlfahrt. In July 2017, when Harald Wohlfahrt retired, he became head chef. In November 2017, the three Michelin stars were confirmed.

The Schwarzwaldstube restaurant was destroyed in a fire on January 5, 2020 ; consequently, the Michelin stars were not awarded in March 2020. The Interim of the Schwarzwaldstube opened on May 29th. The restaurant is housed in the so-called "Temporaire" until the new main building is built.
