Torsten Richert (born May 27, 1965 ) was a soccer player at BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt and the successor club Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl . There he played from 1989 to 1991 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association .

Athletic career

At the beginning of the 1985/86 season, the 1.83 m tall trained electronics technician came to the former GDR league team , the company sports association (BSG) Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt. In the second-rate GDR league , Richert initially played four seasons as a striker, in which he played 107 of a total of 136 point games. He scored 22 goals, with twelve goals in the 1988/89 season he was the top scorer in Eisenhüttenstadt. This season, Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt surprisingly rose to the top division.

The last two seasons of the GDR Oberliga, which was discontinued in 1991 with the dissolution of the GDR Football Association due to unification , were disappointing for Richert. Under the new coach Günter Reinke , he was initially only used as a substitute in the 1989/90 season and then fell out for a long time due to injury, so that he played only eight games in his first league season. After the steel team had secured relegation, Richert played mainly only in the second half of the season in 1990/91 and made eleven league stakes. In 1989/90 he scored three, 1990/91 two point goals. The highlight of his Eisenhüttenstadt career was his participation in the final final of the GDR soccer cup on June 2, 1991 . In the game against the last GDR champion Hansa Rostock, Richert was substituted on in the 60th minute, but finally lost with his team, which meanwhile became FC Stahl from Eisenhüttenstädter, with 0: 1. Then he no longer appeared in higher-class football. In Eisenhüttenstadt he had played 126 point games and scored 27 goals. These included 19 league games and five goals.
