Torsten Zuberbier

Torsten Zuberbier (born February 28, 1962 in Hamburg ) is a German dermatologist and allergist .

education

After graduating from high school in 1981, Torsten Zuberbier studied human medicine at the Free University of Berlin from 1983 to 1990 . From 1990 to 1994 he received specialist training in the department of dermatology at the Virchow Clinic , Berlin , where he became senior physician in 1995 and completed his habilitation in 1996 on the differentiation and functional behavior of human mast cells .

Zuberbier is married and has two children.

Professional Activities

In 1996 Zuberbier was appointed head of the allergology department at the Charité Clinic for Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology . In September 2001 he was awarded an adjunct professorship . In 2003 he was offered an endowed professorship (C4) for allergy impact research and in the same year became head of the European Foundation for Allergy Research ECARF at the Clinic for Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology, Charité in Berlin. Since October 2004 he has headed the Allergy Center Charité at the Dermatology Clinic in Berlin-Mitte. Before he was elected managing director of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology at the Charité in January 2012, he was co-director of the clinic. He is co-editor of the journal of the German dermatological society and a member of the scientific advisory board of the Allergo Journal .

research

Focus of scientific work making beer are urticaria , eczema , respiratory and food allergies , mastocytosis and allergic rhinitis . His basic experimental research focuses on mast cells in skin and mucous membranes and on allergic processes.
