Toshima ( Japanese 利 島 ) is a volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean . It belongs to the Japanese Izu Islands and is administered by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government . Toshima is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and is located between Izu-Ōshima , the largest of the Izu Islands, and Niijima .

The island with the summit of Miyatsuka ( 宮 塚 山 , -yama ) is up to 508 m high, has dimensions of 2.0 × 2.4 km and, with an area of ​​4.12 km², is the second smallest inhabited island of the Izu after Shikine-jima. Island chain. The last eruption of the stratovolcano was 4,000 to 9,000 years ago.

About 341 people live on Toshima in the village of the same name . 80 percent of the island is covered by camellia fields. From November to March a large part of the island is colored red by the camellia flowers. The island is also home to the Lilium platyphyllum , the largest lily in the world. The main line of business on Toshima is fishing. There are also approaches from agriculture and tourism.
