Toshiyuki Sekine

Toshiyuki Sekine ( Japanese 関 根 敏 行 , Sekine Toshiyuki ; * 1956 ) is a Japanese jazz musician (piano, also keyboard).

Toshiyuki Sekine was active in the Japanese jazz scene with his own bands from the 1970s; In 1978 he recorded his debut album As a Child with Yoshio Otomo , Toshi Kobayashi and Akiyoshi Yoshino . In 1978 he presented the album Love for Sale in a trio with Osamu Kawakami and Hideo Yamaki , with standards such as "Detour Ahead", " I Could Write a Book ", " The Shadow of Your Smile " and " Will You Still Be Mine ", followed by the productions Ignition and Dancing with the same cast. In 1980 he played in the band of George Otsuka ( Maracaibo ). The discographer Tom Lord lists his participation in jazz between 1978 and 1980 in four recording sessions, also with Osamu Kawakami. He was also part of the trio The Three (with Kazuya Ishida , drums and Takashi Mizuhashi , bass); in later years he also performed in a duo with vibraphonist Takashi Ooi .
