Osamu Kawakami

Osamu Kawakami ( Japanese 河 上 修 , Kawakami Osamu ; * around 1950 in Akita ) is a Japanese studio and jazz musician ( double bass ).

Osamu Kawakami worked in the Japanese jazz scene a. a. with Isao Suzuki , Kunihiko Sugano , Junko Kimura , Kuzuo Yashiro , Mikio Masuda , Yuri Tashiro , Kōnosuke Saijō , Masao Nakajima and Sadao Watanabe . In 1978 he presented the album Love for Sale (Audio Lab) in a trio with Toshiyuki Sekine (piano) and Hideo Yamaki (drums ), and the production Jump for Joy under his own name in 1981 . In the 1980s he also worked on recordings by Eddie Higgins , Naoki Nishi , Yuzuru Sera , Martha Miyake ; During this time he also worked with his own formations. The discographer Tom Lord lists his participation in jazz between 1974 and 1985 in 30 recording sessions. Kawakami also worked as a session musician for pop productions a. a. by Pizzicato Five , ( Instant Replay , 1999), Hiroshi Kamayatsu and Kyoko Koizumi ( Koizumi Chansonier , 2012).
