Toshihiko Ogawa

Toshihiko Ogawa ( Japanese 小川 俊彦 , Ogawa Toshihiko ; * around 1940) is a Japanese jazz pianist .

Toshihiko Ogawa worked in the Japanese jazz scene from the mid-1960s, first with Nobuo Hara and his big band ( His Sharps & Flats ), with whom the first recordings were made when he was with Hara's orchestra on the Sadao Watanabe album Encore !! Jazz & Bossa (1967) participated. He was also involved in Nobuo Hara's collaboration with Oliver Nelson ( 3-2-1-0 , 1969, Nippon Columbia). In the 1970s and 80s he played a. a. with Ann Burton , Ichiro Masuda , Martha Miyake , Yoshiko Gotō , Jimmy Takeuchi , Kōnosuke Saijō , Harold Land / Eiji Kitamura ( Live at Junk ), George Kawaguchi and Akitoshi Igarashi ( Sax Talk ). In 1977 he recorded his debut album Riverside Jam (Trio Records) in a trio with Kunimitsu Inaba and Donald Bailey . The discographer Tom Lord lists his involvement in jazz between 1967 and 1999 in 19 recording sessions, most recently with Martha Miyake (1996) and the Shuji Atsuta Quintet ( Blues on My Mind ). He also worked as an arranger for the singer Ayako Hosokawa ( Whisper of Love , 2001).
