Naoki Nishi

Naoki Nishi ( Japanese 西 直樹 , Nishi Naoki ; * around 1960) is a Japanese jazz pianist .

Naoki Nishi worked in the 1980s in the band of drummer Takeshi Inomata , with whom he also recorded an album with Harold Land in Los Angeles in 1981 ( Dear Harold My Friend , 1981). He recorded his debut album My Little Suede Shoes (Full House) in 1980 in a trio with Kazuyo Yamaguchi and Takeshi Inomata, followed by A Giant from West (1980, with Osamu Kawakami , Mike Reznikoff ), on which he also featured standards such as “ On Green Dolphin Street ”,“ Someday My Prince Will Come ”and“ Ugetsu ”. In the following years he also played with Terry Mizushima , Kohji Fujika and with the saxophonist Tatsuya Takahashi , who also participated in his third album Straight No Chaser (1981, with Osamu Kawakami, Takeshi Inomata). In the 1990s he also played with Shin'ichi Katō and Chiaki Ogasawara . In the field of jazz he was involved in 18 recording sessions between 1980 and 2005, most recently with Kōsei Kikushi .
