Shin'ichi Katō (bassist)

Shin'ichi Katō ( Japanese 加藤 真 一 , Katō Shin'ichi ; born March 20, 1958 in Naie , Hokkaido ) is a Japanese jazz musician ( double bass ).

Katō worked in Tokyo in 1990 a. a. with the Takeshi Inomata Trio ( If I Were a Bell ), 1991 he released the album You Can't Touch My Heartstrings . In the same year he moved to New York City for three years; there was the album Something Close to Love: B Hot Creations produced for Paddle Wheel Records , in which Tim Hegarty , Isao Miyoshi , Mike Stern , Akira Tana and Ralph Dorsey were involved. After his return to Japan, he worked in the field of jazz as a soloist and with his own formations (including Shigeharu Mukai , Martha Miyake , Yukari Inoue , Hisae Nakajima and Sumire Kuribayashi ) as well as with classical formations and dance ensembles; after the other solo albums Old Diary and Alone , he recorded the album Duets ( Nagel-Heyer ) in 2000 with the pianist Masahiko Satō .

The bassist Shin'ichi Katō should not be confused with the jazz trumpeter of the same name.
