Tomohiro Yahiro

Tomohiro Yahiro ( Japanese 八 尋 知 洋 , Yahiro Tomohiro ; * 1961 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese percussionist .

Live and act

Yahiro grew up in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , where he played in various local rock bands. In 1979 he returned to Japan, where he made his debut as a professional musician in 1980. He became a member of the rock bands Jagatara and S-Ken & Hot Bomboms and worked with musicians such as Joe Hisaishi , Toru Takemitsu , Lisa Ono , Minako Yoshida , Taeko Onuki , Masashi Sada and Tokiko Kato .

As a jazz musician he performed a. a. with Yosuke Yamashita , Shigeharu Mukai , Kazumi Watanabe , Fumio Itabashi and Kazutoki Umezu . In 2004, together with Aska Kaneko , Gerardo Di Giusto and Carlos Buschini, he founded the Japanese-Argentine jazz-tango quartet Gaia , which recorded three CDs.

Yahiro forms the Duo Dos Orientales with the Uruguayan accordionist Hugo Fattoroso , and he works in other duo formations with Gladston Galliza , Tyrone Hashimoto and Yoshiro Nakamura . He also performs as a solo percussionist on tours through Japan and at percussion festivals.
