Gerardo Di Giusto
Gerardo Di Giusto (born January 30, 1961 in Córdoba ) is an Argentine pianist and composer.
Life
After training at the conservatory in his native city, Di Giusto continued his studies from 1985-88 at the Paris jazz school CIM with Laurent Cugny and studied composition at the Conservatoire Régional de Saint Maure .
He then worked as a piano accompanist and arranger for the tango musicians Amelita Baltar and Juan José Mosalini , the interpreters of Latin American music Orlando Poleo , Miguel "Angá" Díaz and Orlando "Maraca" Valle and jazz musicians such as Julien Lourau and "Magic" Malik Mezzadri . From 1994 to 1999 he studied orchestral conducting with Dominique Rouits at the École Normale de Musique in Paris.
Di Guisto has also been active as a composer since the 1990s. In addition to numerous piano works, compositions for orchestra (including the Suite Concertante para Piano y Orquesta de Vientos ) and chamber music were created. He also remained active as a jazz musician in the group Córdoba Reunion (with Javier Girotto , Minino Garay and Carlos "El Tero" Buschini ). In 2003 he founded the group Gaïa Cuatro with the Japanese musicians Aska Kaneko and Tomohiro Yahiro , with whom he performed in Japan and Europe. In 2006 he recorded a solo album as a pianist, in 2008 a duo album with Minino Garay.
